Game crashed during save on last play and now it’s gone entirely.

Got about 50 hours into this game, safe to say I won’t be playing anymore.

Ugh this is my biggest fear. I've stopped playing as well after seeing all of these reports lately.

same thing happened to me back in December and they haven’t said anything about a fix since then so I haven’t played at all since. I was rank B, finished the ocean and was in year 2 when it happened🙃

Shouldn't Xbox be able retrieve it from the cloud though? Unless after save gets deleted locally it immediately yeets it off the server (which would be pretty dumb)

The save is on the server, you can see it. The game just doesn't recognise it. Which kinda suggests it's corrupted

This happened to me in November on Series X and I've not been able to recover my save

Ah, that explains it. Wouldn't that be problem on Xbox end though? I mean isn't their software responsible for literal "copy/paste" action to the cloud?

I'd imagine the crash during the save action corrupted the save, xbox then copied the save to the cloud. So now the corrupted save cannot be read by the game.

Similar to how you could corrupt PS2 saves by removing the memory card during saving, or turning the console off. You'd still see that data existed on the card, but the game wouldn't load the save.

I've been a software engineer for 14 years. From my experience, unless there is some kind of backup save performed by cloud, I have very little faith that we're getting our lost saves back.

Hi @soft bay @meager sparrow @gaunt dagger. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the loss of your save file. Losing progress can be incredibly frustrating and painful, especially when you've progressed far enough in the game. I completely understand your frustration! 🙇‍♀️

The teams are now investigating more on this missing save file issue, and I will definitely reach out again if we have news from the teams. Once again, we're genuinely sorry about this. We will work to improve our save file system so this doesn't happen again in the future 🙇‍♀️ 🙇‍♀️ 🙇‍♀️

They are "now investigating more on this missing save file issue." LOL it has been happening for months and is not even in the known bugs channel on discord. They are more focused on PC than consoles even more so with xbox because costs them money to submit an update. Seem more like fraud to me, selling a game to consoles knowing there game will eventually delete their saves and the people who bought the game for console will just abandon the game and be out the money for purchase of the game. Fraud

I just had this happen to me as well. So so so many crashes and now I'm this far into the game and it's just gone. Don't think I'll ever go back to playing this game. Rank B, year 2. And it's just gone

Yeah, it really sucks. I've cut my loses and uninstalled. It's way too jank to be willing to play and my free time is way too precious to be willing to lose a 40+hr save again. I might come back to it in a year or so, when there's maybe some progress made. But give they seem to be focusing on additional content and not the bugs (looking at their updates) I suspect it'll be a long time.
