#Crash when trying to save, grass tile error?

Hello,

I play on the steamdeck and out of no where, when I tried to save, the game would crash. I couldn't tell what was causing it to crash, but I think after troubleshooting I fixed it (I hope).

Here are the details:

  1. Reproduction steps: Unknown. I would try to save the game at the end of the day and it would crash IF I walked out of the house. I was able to save fine if I didn't walk out of the house.

  2. Repro Rate: 100%

  3. Crash Log: Attached

  4. Additional Image/Video: N/A

  5. Game Version: v1-310

  6. Game Platform: Steam PC / Deck

I wanted to share this, because even though I THINK I fixed this, maybe this will help the developers and others who might be getting similar errors.

The Fix: I remember 2 grass tiles by the large pond that had given me trouble putting down. I picked those up and deleted them along with any other furnishing around it. After I did that, I was able to save without crashes for 2 days in game.

I do not know if this was the actual cause for the crash as there are too many other uncontrolled variables I had going on in the game (I also didn't pick up a few fish traps I had laid down the previous day). All I know is, especially on steam deck, it seems the guiding white square outline will occasionally get 'off-track' (it won't be in front of the character but instead slightly off to the right or left). Suddenly my game (PC / Deck) will struggle at 4-5 fps. I honestly wait for it to crash but it hadn't in the past. What I'm thinking happened is, when I put the grass tiles down, the white square was off track into the area that I can't lay down tiles. Even though the tiles were placed in the correct spot, I'm thinking the game might have registered them as outside of the field to lay them down.

I'm not a programmer, I don't know how to read errors with Unreal, and I could be 1000% wrong and sound totally stupid, but again, I just want to share this in hopes to help others. Thank you ^^b

Hello @grand tundra. Thank you so much for sending us a report according to the guidelines goatlove2

May I ask, are you in the Winter right now? 😮

#

Can you also share your save file? We'll be checking on the grass tile 🙂

#

For Steam Deck, your save file would most likely be stored in 'compatdata' (filepath:/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata). From there, you will see lots of folder with random number, Coral Island folder should be the one with code number '1158160'. Enter that folder, into the pfx folder, then drive_c folder, then you can follow the file path here: Users\ <username>\AppData\Local\ProjectCoral\Saved\SaveGames to find your save file 🙂

For Steam PC, you can access it under this file path: C:\Users\ <username>\AppData\Local\ProjectCoral\Saved\SaveGames and send it here 🙂

When this first crash happened, it deleted my spring day 3 progress.

I did also get another crash moving other furniture at that pond line, specifically neo- classical chairs.

Sure! As soon as I get a chance I'll send it your way 😊👍
