My chickens and ducks seem to be getting cranky over no reason. I feed them and pet them daily. I even let them eat grass outside and fill their spots with hay, what's wrong?

Do you let them out in winter? :> They get cold and grumpy. You can buy a heater for the barns/coops at the ranch and not let them outside.

You can buy a temperature machine at the ranch. It also seems that the animals are just ok with the first level barn. Upgrade it (and have a temp machine) and they will be happy.
You can also let them out on sunny days in winter. They may have a grumpy face appear over them but if you look at the board you will see they are happy.

Whenever it gets late, they get inside the coop by their own but I'm not sure if that's what making them get cranky?

If you don’t then that’s the problem. They get too hot in summer and too cold in winter which makes them cranky

Fall and Spring have milder weather so they aren’t needed hit you should keep the machines in there year round
