Cursed fishing or not?

Good evening. I have a question please.
Every time I fish with bait, I catch more trash and flyers than fish.. Is this normal?

it's just bad luck on your part. cleaning the ocean fully should help see a decrease in trash

it's supposed to help. i'm really hoping we get the recycle center added to the game soon and that it completely eliminates trash while fishing but only time will tell.

I've wondered this too - I was fishing for a particular large fish and, when I caught a small fish, I'd turn it into large bait. And then almost always get trash or a flyer. Not 100%, but enough to make me wonder too.

As an aside - I don't think you should lose bait to trash/flyers - what's eating the bait?

Not 100% it's true, but on a try of 10 casts with bait, I fished 5 to 6 pieces of trash and flyers in a row... So, of course I wonder if it's normal or not because I craft with resources and ultimately, if I catch more trash than fish I don't see the point... unfortunately.

If I was careful I would lose a bait no matter what, but this needs to be checked

If you cast your pole to 6 there a 5% chance to get Trash and the bait is increase the chance by 25% isn't that mean 30% chance on Trash. I assumed that the bait plus a chance on catch everything not just a S/M/L fish as it said. Cause I compare between 100 small fish bait with 100 large fish bait and 100 no bait with same duplicate save file same day same weather same fishing location, size of fish that I got really not difference also I got less Trash without bait.

I play the game on ps5.I have the same.If I use a bait for fishing I catch much more trash and flyers.Without bait it's less.But the bait is always lost on trash or flyers..That sucks.I hope my english is understandable.

As for me, I'm on a PC... Same as @barren jolt my bait gets lost when I fish for trash or flyers. I fish without bait now to make sure I catch fish and not everything else.

Concerning the backups, can we delete all the saves except the original "0.sav" in order to clean up a little?
