#Crop Quality Harvest Reset Question

Hello! I have a question regarding when a crops quality is permanently assigned. Do we know if it’s generated/locked to the first played day that it becomes harvestable or is it generated when we actually harvest it? More info below.

Current scenario:

  • It’s Fall Day 10, Year 1 and I lost track of time/forgot about the Harvest Festival.
  • I also didn’t realize it’s impossible to get osmium crops (without fertilizer) until the Silver level seed upgrade.
  • The lab doesn’t finish that particular upgrade until the next in-game day (Fall Day 11); which would insta-upgrade all my seeds/growing crops
  • I have no time to plant a high value flower before the festival and my currently planted flowers will reach their harvestable stage on Day 10 (today)
  • With what I currently have planted/active upgrades, the only flower I could potentially harvest as osmium-grade would be 3 Orchids which have fertilizer (by accident)
  • An osmium orchid isn’t a horrible option for the festival, but if I didn’t harvest the flowers today and waited for the silver seed upgrade to activate tomorrow, could I reload Fall Day 11 to try and get an osmium fairy rose or would all of the flowers be quality-locked to the day they were harvestable, thus Day 10 rates?
  • If they were locked to Day 10 rates, I could screw my chances of even getting the osmium orchid (reminder: since there are only 3 planted seeds with fertilizer on them atm) Chicken_Nervous_Emoji

TL;DR - trying to game the system and up my chances for an osmium fairy rose by waiting 1 in-game day when my silver seed upgrade activates to do the reload trick for different harvest-quality outcomes 🤔

Quality is generated on harvest based on my testing!

Apart from that, if you're on PC, you can always back up a save file if anything goes wrong!

And also you don't necessarily need a flower just for the category diversity points, you could use another repeat product that's both pricey and osmium quality, and it'll only be 1 less points than the osmium fairy rose + diversity points combined. In fact, one of the easiest way to easily beat Bobby and get >160 points for the stamina fruit is to just save up 6 osmium melons from summer, process one of them into an artisan good, and you'll get 162 points total for that.
