steam deck shows wrong controller type?

I’ve been playing for a while. Last night my dog jumped up on me u expectedly and the deck got a bit button mashed. Anyways, I looked at it and none of my buttons worked ingame (though they worked on other deck functions). So, no big deal. Run the day out and it saves, I shut the deck all the way off and go to bed figuring a reboot would fix it.

Got up this morning and loaded in and… still thinks I’m playing with a different controller than what the deck has. I think it’s showing PlayStation buttons?

Anyone know how to fix this??

not a console player so a complete shot at the dark from me
try messing with the modern/legacy control, and maybe the controller style to see if one fits the steam deck buttons?

That’s sadly the first thing I’ve done, including resetting to default, etc.

But it was a good thought cuz that’s fixed other issues that have popped up. lol

not sure if there’s a way to backup the saves in case something goes wrong on steam deck though
