So i started my second play through of the game in fall now of year 1. ive finished the mines and almost finished the diving but ive only gotten 4 fossil nodes, those four are from the sea creatures that gives you gifts. Is this a bug or am i just unlucky?

Yes. Scott gives you the brush unlocking fossils as a reward for upgrading it 🙂
