i prefer to play in windowed mode as it lets me switch tabs if i need to. but, in this game, even when i play windowed mode, my mouse is constricted to the game and i have to click the windows button to be able to switch to another tab. is there a fix for this?

darn. sucks cause its only windowed borderless when youre not in any menus for some reason, as soon as i click into anything im locked again
hopefully they fix it cause clicking the windows button every time i wanna look something up is annoying

There isn't a fix for this with out 3rd party software. There's been a few posts about this back in the Early Access days as well that the devs have responded to.
