Shall I take my animals out in Winter?

It's my first Winter so I was wondering if we have to keep animals indoor (also should we keep them inside when it's raining, because I did so until now) ?

Keep them in when it’s bad weather (eg. rain/storm/snow/blizzard), but otherwise you can let them out even during winter!

Also a plant grass starters every few days. It dies off but your pigs and other animals will still find truffles etc. plus it’s cheaper than hay.

I kept them inside the entirety of winter and they were happy, but if you don’t want to keep restocking the hay then yes let them have some grass when it’s sunny 😊

It negatively affects their happiness if you let them outside during winter (regardless of weather), so if that's a concern, keep them inside. If you don't care about your animals' happiness, let them out to yourheart's content 🙂

However, if you have level 2 cop or barn, and temperature machine inside, the pet will always be haply as long as they're fed. At least for my experience anyway

I never had a problem with happiness dropping in winter. I just let my animals out in sunny weather and I have a temp machine.

I’ve never had a problem with letting my animals out in winter as long as it’s not snowing and I’ve got the temp machine.

Rule of thumb is if the ranch animals are out, let yours out. And make sure you have a temp machine.

All I know is when I left my animals out during a sunny winter day, they all got frowny faces above their heads, so I rushed them all back inside

The moodlet thing shows unhappy but it doesn't affect their hearts unless you don't feed them/pet them and the weather is poor. Sunny day winter's out let me max 10 hearts most of my barn animals still

I've been experimenting with this, too. Even with pets, temp machine, and only letting them out on sunny days, they made frowny faces and I verified that their mood dropped as well. I don't think I'll be letting them outside during winter.

Oh nope, you can use temperature from level 1 coop and barn. What I meant is if you have level 2 coop/barn + temperature machine

Did you feed them? Grass dies in winter. Also their mood (happy/ok) that pops up when you pet them twice (aka talk to them) I think is separate from the moodlet based on how my winter time went.

I am slightly confused on if it effects their happiness if they are let out in the winter during good weather mine seem to produce better when they are let out… the wiki said their is a bug for the pig showing a sad face when let out in winter… wondering if that is all the animals. So confused this year 1 winter too, hay at osminum - I get a lot of osminum produce from them too. It doesn’t seem very cut and dry
