Nah ur fine 🙂 I feel like ranching is best to have before your first winter.
There is not a lot of crops in winter so having some chickens or barn animals to make some money is great.
It's a really great income and personally i would suggest getting them as soon as you can
Just keep in mind the fact that grass dont spread in winter, so either keep some money for buying hay, or make sure you have enough hay with what you can cut on your farm to pass winter 🙂

Just an additional note that chickens get cranky in winter if you don't have the temperature machine in your coop
