How to use insect scents?

I keep trying to use the scents with traps but cannot figure out how to attach them. Any time i interact, i'm not given the option to attach. The only thing i can do is consume it, how do i use it with the flying insect trap for example?

Try to push the consume button in front of the trap. It suppose to display an option to attach it.
