best way to get hardwood

Im having trouble finding hardwood! What are the best ways to get it, my town rank is rank D, i dont have any bundles done yet either

on the farm - blow up with explosives/gold axe
off the farm - silver axe is enough to cut them
6 offerings will open the mid forest and you'll get a log every day
14 offerings will open the deep forest with more logs
Carpenter will sell at rank B
