So I'm trying to plant a tree where the red square is. There isn't anything in the surround 8 squares, but it keeps giving me the error that the tree can't be planted here. Any ideas as to why?

I had this problem as well, both in the greenhouse and outside on the farm... Seems like it wants to have another row of free fields around those eight fields :/

i tried to find it but couldnt. I once read somewhere (i think it was the wiki) that they need the surrounding 25 tiles to be empty and cleared

I actually read over the wiki thinking I was missing something and it only says that the surrounding 8 tiles need to be cleared. I have no issue with the rest of my trees since I have an entire row. This is the last one in the row and it's being stubborn

could be aswell that the 25 tiles "rule" were in EA and they changed it in 1.0.

There's not a limit to how many trees you can have, is there? That's the only thing I can think of outside buggy coding

Yeah, it seems the 25 tile thing is what's going on. I had to clear out some of my crops (That hurt me badly) and now I can plant a tree elsewhere. Which means I won't be able to plant it in that corner area since the '25th tile is out of bounds.
That sucks >.<
Guess I'll be going with 5 trees of each instead of 6
