Bat wings - possible RNG issue?

I finished the fire caverns already and I have only 1 bat wing to show for it. Got more monster essences and wood from bats. It's the last monster loot I need to complete the altar.
Is anyone else having trouble with extremely rare drops in caverns?

Bat wings were the hardest one for me to drop as well. If you check your Bestiary (under Journal) you'll see they also drop from the basic tuku-tukus, and the scratchers, and maybe one or two other things as well. I'd focus on those and see if you can get any better luck.

A lot of it is just gonna be grind and RNG though, which isn't all bad, since the XP rates for monsters are -so- low, and to level to 10 takes forever and a day.

I did and basically killed everything that gave bat wings... except some creature from the bestiary (between bat and tuku-tukus) which I did not encounter yet so it's still greyed out. Still only 1 bat wing overall. Guess I'll have to make several runs through the caves just to get the wings... 😦

the RNG and the amount of loot the monsters are dropping are horrible (especially the bats) … you aren’t the only one. i think i killed 30 (maybe a bit more?) bats since the start of my play through (i’m at the start of spring, year 2), finished all the caverns too and only got … 3 wings. and i killed every bats i ever saw. they just almost never drop loot and when they do, i need to pray it’s a wing and not a log or something else

Yeah, same here. After finishing fire cavern I only had 3 bat wings. Took some time fighting to get the others

i also really struggled to get bat wings, their drop RNG is really bad. the only suggestion is to just keep running the mines and hope that you get some more wings

I had this issue in early access, I’ve had better luck but I’m winter 25 year 1 and have only gotten 9 total, compared with an average of 20 for other loot types, except for the meat, dear flower goddess I have so much meat

Same. Only found 3 bat wings and have been through all caves 1-2 times. Silk is also the same. The RNG gods are not in my favor 😔

Yeah it took me several runs of the mines most times getting either 1 or 0 wings for killing 5 or 6 bats, but they do drop.. sometimes..

Happened for silk as well but the drop was much higher. I was able to gather all I needed in 2-3 runs and now I have an extra 8. For bats though... I still have a whooping 1 despite making 4-5 runs already

It’s really luck I found three on my first run and two of them were from the cat thing and then got the other two on the next run

Bat wings were my last piece of needed monster loot, too. I think it was a couple weeks after finishing the mines when I got my fifth.

I’ve gotten two to drop form the little thief guys holding the bag (not sure what they’re called) the ones that drop random monster loot. It’ll be easier and quicker to farm those

in what mines do you usually find them? and what level (if you remember)? i find a few earlier in the game but having seen one in a while, but it wouldn’t hurt to farm them for a while to see if i can find the last bat wing i need for the altar

I believe late silver early gold levels I saw the most of them. I haven’t even been in the fire mine yet so can’t vouch for that one but I know I didn’t start seeing them until silver

It’s usually snowy/icy in the mines when I find them if that helps can’t remember exactly which ones those are

I only saw one critter with actual bat-like wings. The drop rate was much better on those. I just went back to where I saw them a couple times to complete. This is in the fire mine

I did probably 2 weeks straight of grinding to get bat wings and failed to get any until I read a helpful tip on Reddit that worked like a charm. The suggestion was to go to floor 30 of the fire mine, use the monster agro 2 scent (from BOS guild or crafted), and then kill any cats, rock monsters (the grey ones that get up and charge you), or the non-wasp flying monsters while working through to level 40 normally. I think I got 3-4 in my first try (though I did have the skill for monsters to possibly double drop loot).

Ok so I figured it out. You really need to upgrade the sword in enchanting to the max rate drop etc then keep doing levels 25 to 40 of the fire cave. They are dropped by the red flaming bat things and there’s a good few on those levels. I got them all after repeating for 3 days in a row. I could never get them before enchanting.

I got all my bat wings and have never enchanted my weapon. Actually, since my weapon doesn't show the lil enchanting slots, I didn't even know I COULD enchant it.

My weapons have never shown as options for enchanting either! Also I ended up getting most of my wings from the cats in all my games so far lol

Ok I’m doing this now and I literally want to rip my own hair out from how extremely annoying this is. I spent 5 in game days just going through mines and found ZERO. I’m so tired of this.
