I just got access to the blocked off area in the woods (||with the ginseng and hardwood logs||). I'm wondering it this area I'm standing next to in the screenshot should be accessible?

Yes, it will lead you to the || deep forest ||, that area will be unlocked || when you reach Rank B heritage or finished 14 sesajen/offering ||
