I am an EA player and seeing all the bugs,crashes, and missing content after the 1.0 has me holding off on really diving back into the game.
Should I just start playing or wait for the update that’s supposed to be happening? I miss the game, but want to play a full game not just the EA game with a few tweets.

well you will know within the first day of playing if you want to continue. Their is a lot I have to put off atm since they havent fixed a thing since patch and patch made everyting worse. so stay out of the caves, dont try to remove anything with the carpenter and make short days just in case so you can save. I did get through my 2nd year harvest festival last night so thats a plus lol. gl to you. I say go ahead and play then decide

I think a lot has to do with the platform. It seems some have more problems than others. For example, I am on PS5 and have had only 1 crash in 100+ hours and no problems with Museum (compared to others).

I'm on PC and so far, it's working pretty good. I guess you'll have to try and see if it fits what you expect when playing.
When reading all the bugs people had, I was a little scared so I did backups but I haven't encountered majors issues (only smalls things but no big loss like some people had), if that helps 😅

This is helpful! Thank you all! I played a few days, but then got concerned that I’d crash. I’m on PC. I shall take the advice and get back into it, but I’ll still be cautious 😂

Staying cautious is good cause I just went through a day to get 4 fish for my museum and then went into the aquarium just for my game to crash

i played until i realized the main storyline was WIP still so i'm waiting again because it ended in the same place it ended in EA. i'm wary of my save becoming incompatible whenever they introduce the actual finished storylines and missing content
