Town rank not adding after festival?

My town rank was C 571 prior to doing the beach clean up festival, did the festival, and won the two minigames (which I was unable to do year one), which should have added 220 to my town rank (two hundred from each minigame and 20 for attending). Went to sleep that night, but the points did not add to town rank- I can see them in the log, but they havent actually added to the total, as I'm aware they would send me into rank B. Is there a way to force them to add? As a note, it is now fall 2, and they have still not added.

Merit points are separate from town rank. You can spend them in town hall to buy skill potions, stamina fruit etc

Oh, I did not realize that! I thought that participation in festivals affected rank. Thanks!
