Scoring makes no sense. I know those eggs are more rare, but he A. shouldn't get a diversity score at all since they're all the same, and B. they're all silver, whereas I have gold and osmowhatever ranked goods! :/
What even are those eggs? Quail?

I guess you literally can't win the first year with basic bish crops?

I've done a year one festival 3 times now, and this is the best of the three and I lost by way more than before.

Yeah. Those are quail eggs. The only way to basically beat him is to have Artisan goods… it took me 4 in game years to beat him my first time around… But when 1.0 came I finally figured it out. When you look at your items when you place them for the contest, it’ll tell you what your valuation is. You wanna try to get it as high as possible

So like tame cheese, honey, if you can take Aged items from the aging barrel, that helps alot too… But some of those items can take up to 2-3 weeks for a “season”

So the easiest way I learned was, upgrade your Hay and produce/seeds/trees, as quickly as you can

Oof yeah I don't have an aging barrel yet. I guess the letter the mayer sends is misleading because I thought I had to have one of each category.

I appreciate the feedback though and will try that next year.

I think if you reach a certain level like 4-5, for either ranching, or farming, the judge guy is supposed to send you a aging barrel in the mail. I’m not sure on the level tho 😅 I have the memory of a goldfish lol the level could be higher.

Yeah but now that I know I can just pack the court with the same high level stuff, I'll be ready. Just legit thought I had to have the best of each thing he'd listed in the mail. Thus the crappy flower.

FWIW, I beat him in year one, with 6 items, one for each diversity category. You just gotta work at getting a few crop upgrades so you can get Osmium, or at least gold, and make sure you use relatively expensive stuff. For Maximum points on an item, which is 25, it needs to sell for at least 400 gold at base and be Osmium quality. He literally has all silver quail eggs you don't need osmium at all

6 of any eligible product that sells for a higher sale price (235) and better than silver gives you the win, different items makes it even easier. I won my first harvest without any guides

Yes but I had osmium, everything was silver plus except the flower. But I didn't think about the sale prices.

Yeah unfortunately the only thing that matters is how much your crops add up to, and his quail eggs make more than your combined stuff. Best things are melon wine, fermented goat cheese, and titan arum honey

Ahhh yeah unlucky then. Im sure you will get everything in order by year 2 though, try stocking up on the Items from my display whenever you come across them. Good luck 👍

YOu get higher score with more expansive itens. I used 4 melon juices Osmium and 2 Fairy Rose Honey Osmium and got 156 points. Next Fall I'll have 4 Melon Wines and 2 Fairy Rose Meads. But yeah, the scoring makes no sense since we recieve a letter telling us to get ONE OF EACH.

They tell us to get one of each because its pretty much free bonus points. 6 points per unique category so if you have one of each that an extra 36 points. Granted you still have to have good items for example even though Bobby would have only gotten 6 bonus points (only 1 categories) his base item values were enough to make up the difference edit: changed diversity i was thinking of another set of his crops not the one in the pic woops lol xD )

I got 178 in year 1, all osmium quality. Cauliflower, melon, fairy rose, fairy rose honey, large quail egg, and large wool. EDIT it was year 2. I got 119 in year 1, still enough to beat Bobby, but not as well as I'd hoped. Don't remember what entries I had that year.
