Crash During Saving Deleted Save File Xbox Series S

Hello, around 3:30 pm MST on 11/28 (today) I went to bed in game after setting up my farm a bit for the day. I’ve had my game crash during saving before but never this crazily. It crashed, which I didnt find to be a huge deal. But upon reopening the game, I found that my ENTIRE save file had been deleted. I was in Winter Y4 with a farm setup that I really enjoyed and now everything is gone. I’m not sure why as I’ve never encountered this sort of thing before.

I am extremely heartbroken as I had spent over 150 hours playing the game since November 14th. Pictures attached are of my farm before save and the screen as I boot the game now. In game years of work just gone

That's awful 😭 you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game in the hopes that the cloud save will bring back your file?

Yep. Even tried accessing it on gamepass PC to try to find my backup, nothing

Everythings just gone. It’s not a huge deal in the grand scheme but it sucks a lot

I disagree it is a huge deal! You have a right to be super upset! That is a lot of time and effort put into something. This is the second time I’ve seen this happen to someone during the update and it makes me terrified to play. It’s ridiculous quite frankly.

@grim gull Might I suggest avoiding Halo. That game is full of try hard sweats that will enrage you further 😅

I 1000% agree. Especially now that the devs have seen how bad of an issue this is, I think they should make that a priority. It wouldn’t be such a bad thing to deal with in the early stages if it didn’t mean losing soooooo much progress/loot sometimes

No unfortunately not because Microsoft hates us

@shut void Not that I know of. You just get a single save file. The game should create a save file and two back-ups imo.

Truly. The only way to creat backups is by having the game also on your pc and then backing up there

Oh no this is not the update I hoped for. But calling this an “inconvenience” for 150 hours of gameplay lost is just so disingenuous. That’s damn near 4 whole business weeks of effort down the drain!!!

Contact Humble. Thats what I was directed to do by Microsoft. They MIGHT be able to restore the save but it would have to be on their end cause the games servers would need to be accessed. It’s a long shot but at least a little bit of hope

It's impossible to play, there was an update but the game continues to crash, even more than before. I loved the game but so far it has only given me a headache, I would like a date for this error to be corrected, even if it takes a while. It's horrible to waste so much time redoing the same odds because of a game error.

I had the same thing happen yesterday. Playing on Xbox cloud, crashed during overnight saving. Deleted the entire character from the save and couldn't recover it on PC game pass either. PC game pass never crashes but im guessing the Xbox Cloud version is the Xbox S version because it crashes all... the... time..

Just had the same thing happen to me yesterday. I’m devastated. I had it crash a few times before it did the big crash on saving and my entire file is gone now. I even went through the steps Microsoft has to find the cloud save and it wasn’t there. I was playing on Xbox S. Going forward I’m going to switch to steam but I think I’m going to have to take a break from the game for a while cause I’m so frustrated.

The devs has been informed about the issue and we're currently investigating this. Because Xbox uses a cloud system, we are still looking for a solution to be able to access save files on the cloud system 🙇‍♀️

Would be a great option to be able to copy a save file, so we have a backup...if one crashes we would have something left.
I understand a save option in-game is not what you guys intended. Being able to copy your save file would be a nice alternative

I just experienced this today. Been playing for a couple weeks now, and I am extremely bummed my game is gone gone. I didn't cry I swear.
