Posting this here so it helps people with the museum crash issue when donating.

Donate your items.
Pause the game immediately.
Select "I'm stuck".

The game will save and send you back home, and will likely crash, but when you load back in, the problem is fixed. The cutscene plays out straight from your house and you're able to skip it and continue with the game as normal...

NOTE: When you get past this and complete your next part of the quest for the museum (50 items handed in) - DO NOT claim it in the menus until after you've handed allllllll of your donations in. There's a few folks here that are reporting crashing once the museum has been upgraded. Make sure you hand everything in, save, and then claim it.

Also: If it’s crashing while trying to donate at the museum, the way i fixed it was by opening up the donation menu, donating the items, but just leaving the donation menu open bc time still continues to move. Eventually your character will pass out and it’ll send you back home and save. Then the next day go back to the museum and you get the cut scene and no crashing

@limber trout Let us know how you get on and remember, if it works (it should) don't hand in your quest for 50 items. Instead. Just keep handing in allllll your donations. There's a separate bug that locks people out the museum once it's been upgraded. The museum will only upgrade if you hand in that quest. So for now, I'd leave it unclaimed.

So does this now mean we cannot donate 50 items because it will lock us out of the museum, so we have to hang onto our items until there's a patch?

@velvet hill Sure. So, donate your items, leave the donate menu and then quickly press pause. Select "I'm stuck" and follow the steps to reset the day, and you're good to go 😊

@fluid yew The next step of the museum questline is to donate 50 items. Just don't hand in the quest once it's complete. Instead, just to about your days and continue to donate things. The other museum crash on occurs when the museum is upgraded, which only happens once you hand in the quest for donating 50 items. It should be safe to hand in once the Devs have fixed the crashing issue - which is any day now.

@stoic forge I can’t figure out how to get the I am stuck option. Is the pause menu when you hit the Y button? I tried multiple times last night but I just can’t seem to find I’m stuck. I saw it a few days ago but I don’t remember what menu I was in.

@velvet hill Noooo. So, hand in your donations and then exit out of the donation menu. Very quickly press pause before the screen goes black (the button on the controller that has three little lines on it) and then wayyyy down at the bottom is the "I'm stuck" option.

@stoic forge @kindred lava it worked!! Thank you so much. I tried the pause bottom last night but I must not have been hitting it fast enough. So I thought I had the wrong button. I am so happy that I can move on in the Museum a little more!! Thanks again

@velvet hill One more thing. Don't hand in the next step of the museum quest (donate 50 items). This will upgrade your museum. People are reporting more crashing issues with the upgraded museum. Instead, just go about your business donating allllllll the things you want to donate. I've donated over 150 things. So long as you don't hand in that quest, you should be safe. We can always hand in the quest once the developers have fixed the crashing 😊 enjoy!

@kindred lava it does suck we have to find a work around. It would be nice if Xbox could get us the updates faster. I am loving this game so much and can’t wait for the bugs to get worked out.

@stoic forge thank you so much for the heads up on the next 50 items. I will definitely not turn that in until after we get an update that fixes it. I really appreciate all your help with this. I am loving this game so much and the community is awesome so far. Can’t wait till all the bugs are fixed and multiplayer comes along so we can all play together.

@velvet hill if this was a game like gta , call of duty or any aaa game xbox would right away roll the hotfix or update out but this is an inde game dev, I wanna sink a ton of time into this , yeah when multilayer come I will show off my farm far and wide lol

@kindred lava so true. Indie games do not get the same kind of love those aaa games do. But this one is amazing! I wish they would see its potential. The community is already amazing and you would think after the huge success of ACNH they would be more supportive for a game like coral island. Maybe someday lol. I hope to get a chance to check out your farm when multiplayer comes. Mine isn’t ready to show off but I’m sure it will be by the time multiplayer roles out.

@stoic forge that’s funny, I only joined the discord to see if others were experiencing the same issues I was. Then when I saw all the feedback I was like, yep, they sure are lol. But I’ve found it refreshing that most are positive here and very helpful. I’ll stick around for multiplayer and see if there are fun ways on here for us to connect and get on each other’s islands. Discord for ACNH was fun that way. Hopefully this will be something similar.

@stoic forge have you tried the I’m stuck trick in the ocean? I crash every time I try and enter the last section. All I want is to finish cleaning the ocean. That part of the game is so satisfying 😂

@stoic forge I’m so jealous you got to finish the ocean! I can’t get past the last two ancient devices before it lets me go into the last section with the osmium kelp. It tries to do a cut scene and then always crashes. I haven’t tried the I’m stuck yet but sometimes it crashes before I can even get to the final device needed to move on. 😭

@velvet hill Oh yeahhhh you can "I'm stuck" there too. I think if I remember correctly. As soon as you see the second lamp rising from the ground, do the "I'm stuck" trick. That should bypass the cutscene.

Either that or jump the anchor as quickly as you can (if that works too).

Thank you all for the help with these problems. I'm in the same trouble with the museum, but this fix worked ! Kaloudz you are awesome!!! May have to start play through over from everything I missed...but I will survive. Again, big thanks😊

@stoic forge I’m stuck did not work for me in the ocean 😭😭😭😭😭. I might give it a try one more time in a day or two but something is going on everytime I try to trigger the last device in that section. It let me pause and hit I’m stuck but it just completely crashes and sends me back to the beginning of the day. So sad. But at least I can donate to the museum 😂

@stoic forge I am in the US haha. But I left my phone in the other room when I tried (and failed) to get to the last section of the ocean. And then the phone rang from the other room and I got distracted and then fell asleep. Only to wake up at midnight and realized I never gave you an update 🤦🏼‍♀️😂. It is currently 3 am my time and I am working up the courage to try again. I hear if I try and go to sleep in the merkingdom I might be able to get by. I still have an ancient device that doesn’t spawn so I can’t complete all 22 spots before I move on but I want that osmium kelp for upgrades 😭😂

@mental pendant You're very welcome!!! Just make sure not to hand in the next step of the quest (donate 50 items). This will upgrade your museum and there are people here that are reporting more crashing issues with the upgraded museum. Instead, just go about your business donating everything and anything 😊 so long as you don't hand in the next step of the quest (until the Devs fix it) you're good to go. I've handed in over 150 things with no issue.

@velvet hill Ah well hopefully it helps and you're able to get past it (either the I'm stuck option of the anchor). I cleared the waste completely and then activated the small item on the floor, and then hit "I'm stuck" so that the day reset long before the trail activated the beacon.

@stoic forge so I finally made it to the cut scene where the mythical creature gets set free but the game is crashing like crazy after. I spent 4 hours and more tries than I would like to admit. I’m shocked I didn’t give up but I’m super afraid to go back down and check. What a struggle. I can not wait until Xbox releases the update 🤦🏼‍♀️🥲

@stoic forge don’t rub it in 😂. However, I broke my game. Nothing I do now will let me get past the day that shows the cut scene. Guess I’m done playing until the update. Which might not be a bad thing since I have finals in a couple weeks and I should be working on wrapping up my projects 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

Initially, I tried this method (pause menu - "I'm stuck), but it didn't work. Then I used this method (Diving Zone 40m) :

returned to the surface with an anchor before the beacon came out.
the next day or after returning to the surface, I dived again.
when I was at the bottom of the sea, I clicked the pause menu and clicked "I'm stuck" just before the beacon turned on
after the mystical creature cutscene, suddenly I woke up in the royal barracks.

I don't guarantee that this method works or maybe I just lucky, but there's no harm in trying.

I was so close to just not playing the game anymore because I just couldn't progress

I couldn't get my town rank to C and I had done everything I could till that point other than the museum and was reaching a breaking point

This is the only workaround I have seen which actually worked for me and I can play the game again!
