Received the new update today on Xbox (Series S) so I am on Game Version - v1.0-935.

The game doesn't seem to be lagging at all now, but the crashing is still present. The game will crash for no reason whatsoever. I could be fishing, and the game crashes. I could be sleeping for the night, and the game crashes. I could be running around, and the game crashes. The crashing is also still present when going to the museum to hand in my tenth donation. I feel that looking around this discord, the majority of people with these issues are on Xbox Series S.

I am slowly getting to the point where I wont be able to progress any further without handing in my donations to the museum. This really needs to be fixed ASAP. I love the game, and daresay that it's on-par with Stardew Valley, but I am slowly beginning to lose my patience with it. Hopefully you're able to address the problems in another patch.

I’m confused what this update is even for? I’m downloading it now and it’s rather large for a whole lot of nothing. I’m so disappointed 😭

It looks to me like it was a purely cosmetic update. They've improved the UI a bit, and added a loading percentage bar when you change locations, but the crashing hasn't been addressed at all. If anything, it's worse.

(I have to say, that type of thing feels like it should have been much lower on the list of priorities, compared to making the game playable.)

Yeah, that's true, the lagging issue is gone. It's just the crashing that hasn't been addressed.

@sterile palm Let's hope the next patch fixes it. Guess I'll have to pad out my time fishing and bugcatching until they fix it. I really want to max out the Lake Temple, but a lot of the things on there need seeds or goods that are only available after bettering the town rank - which we can't do without the museum 🤣😭 unless the plethora of new quests helps bump us up? I haven't checked them yet. How far till your update is done so you can see if donating works for you?

Ugh I know it!!!!! And I’ve enjoyed exploring the ocean a ton but just about every time I spend a day doing that I’m surely to have a crash so I have to account for a lot of time and frustration. I am hoping these new quests will help bump us up. Especially since we weren’t getting a lot of quests from the bulletin board. Just got done and it doesn’t 🫠 neither does decorating. I can finally move around in decorate mode but that’s it. Can’t place or move or pick up anything.

@sterile palm LOL. It's like 9pm here. I've spent the last hour handing gems in, crashing, rinsing and repeating. I'm THAT desperate, I'm going to try and see if I can donate, pause, and click "I'm stuck" to see if it will bypass the loading.

Donate to get past ten, then press pause, and click I'm stuck. The game sends you back home, crashes, and when you load it up it gets past it 😁

Mine is still crashing as well, especially since i’ve now had so many items saved to donate that now I’m at the 20 items

@runic lark Is it the cutscene that's crashing your game? If it is, try the method I posted above.

If it’s crashing while trying to donate at the museum, the way i fixed it was by opening up the donation menu, donating the items, but just leaving the donation menu open bc time still continues to move. Eventually your character will pass out and it’ll send you back home and save. Then the next day go back to the museum and you get the cut scene and no crashing

My game is still crashing also, but it’s crashing after the Founding cutscene. I Can no longer enter the museum.

Yeah, I can't enter the museum either since the expansion scene. And there are still random crashes all over, like when I'm moving from one area to another. I feel like I can't really explore the game or play it properly, because I never know what's going to undo a whole day's worth of progress with a crash.

I hope this wasn't the update intended to fix the bugs, but just a random cosmetic update they already had queued...because this hasn't fixed anything.

Ok the “fix” does work but it’s not something players should rely on- it ends your day, causes the game to react like you passed out so you get a stamina penalty, and THEN you get charged from the medical center

Absolutely agree with this. I also play on Xbox series S. my game is currently unplayable, I’m stuck in Groundhog Day. The update didn’t help.

The update that got approved was indeed a cosmetic one and one for the decorating on console 😊 The museum update has also been sent to Microsoft for approval, so it’s fixed and ready to go - just need to be approved. It looks like Microsoft approved this one first for some reason.

@sterile palm Whatever you do, don't claim your quest once it says it's complete (I think it says donate 50 items). Just keep donating allllllll your things. People here that claimed the quest as complete have been unable to enter the museum at all due to another bug.

I did this and now it crashes everytime I load the game 😭😭 it tries to load the cut scene and I can’t even skip it or hit the menu. Didn’t claim any awards 😭

So just keep donating allllll your stuff. The quest is called "Museum Expansion". Once that's complete. Don't hand it in. Or else we will get sucked into another bug. 😳🙄 And you're very welcome 😁 thanks for the dancing heroes...🤣

@uneven mango Glad it's all sorted for you 🙂 just be sure not to hand in the next step of the quest (donate 50 items) as others are reporting crashing issues once the museum has been upgraded (which only happens once you've completed that quest). Instead, just go about your business and hand in as much as you want until the Devs fix the museum 😊

@queen imp It's hard to pinpoint. The crashing just happens periodically. There's no pattern to it. This game will crash probably 3-5 times a day for me. (Series S).

I am convinced they just don't care because we were told the museum fix would be in this update, now it will be the next allegedly. Literally unplayable on xbox series s.

Definitely have more crashes after the update on series s, barley can play a whole day to save without an crash, almost unplayable 😭😭😭😭

@summer skiff @cerulean trout Yeah @south siren is totally right. I used to aid Microsoft / Xbox and know first-hand that patches go through vigorous testing by them (Microsoft / Xbox) before they release or deny them. We should hopefully have the update that fixes the crashing any day now.

I refuse to believe the devs/publisher sent them two different updates and said, pick whichever you feel like first. Also not having both updates in one is a head scratcher.

Cars and steaks are much different than a game you play. Dreamlight Valley is another game that you paid for and it had glitches and crashes-it still does but not as much as before. It seems as though this game is in its early stages as far as development still and the kinks are getting worked out as quick as they can. We should all apply to Microsoft and maybe we can get them approved faster.

Tbh I don’t think it’s Microsoft’s fault that they have an update process,they were sent a broken product to begin with.

I totally get where you guys are coming from, but I think it’s important to remember this is an independent game 💕 they do not have all the resources bigger gaming companies have, there will always be kinks to iron out, but the devs are doing the best they can and are constantly in the crash/bug channel ready to look into a fix 💕 To me it’s part of the charm of the game and to watch it develop into a full game.

The update was just a game version update to match other platforms the hot fix was submitted the 21st and is currently awaiting Microsoft approval. The new crashes since the update has yet to be addressed by the devs or mentioned when would be fixed even after we have to wait for Microsoft approval so more like a week + for the new issues.

I can agree with this completely if anything my games crashes more now but no lag. I was able to get by the donate 10 to the museum one but now I can’t go in it anymore after the founders hall was added. So it’s a win in some places for sure

However, there are still opportunities for them to redeem themselves like No Man’s Sky. The stability issues need to be fixed by Christmas and, if they’re not, they’re opening up the possibility of pissing off a whole new batch of players.

Series s player here. Music is broken. 10th item donate is broken still. And I can't get further in the sea as I didn't click the gold item to clear it when I unlocked it and now it's just floating up high and won't despawn. It's also dashboarding more the further I progress and the more I open the menu per day

I wouldn't call the game a miserable failure. It IS pretty fun between crashes. But I have to admit, I've found myself wondering...didn't they playtest this before releasing it? Even the most casual of playtests would've revealed that, hey, this game is massively unstable on Xbox.

It's weird, because otherwise, this is a pretty polished game. It's got great visuals, lots to do, a satisfying gameplay loop...and then it doesn't even pass the most basic stability check. That's strange.

What are you playing it on socar? I have been told by friends who play this, that they haven't had issues with the series x. Just my console. I can play games like cod, red dead, Witcher, forza but not this 🤣

I have the series S. It's pretty unplayable on that. I'd swap it out for a series X, but it wouldn't fit neatly on the shelf under the TV like the S does.
