Should I wait to start a new save?

So, this might seem like a silly question but I've been playing since before 1.0 via PC game pass (before merfolk). In the past, significant updates have required new saves I THINK? I'm not one to go starting new farms. I typically commit to a single farm/save in these kinds of games.
So I guess my question is - should I continue to wait for more updates before starting a new game on the assumption that there will be more updates that require new games? Or is it safe to say that any future updates will be compatible with any new save that I make now?🤔

I'd say given how buggy everything is, especially for console versions - wait a little longer, either way. devs said, compability wont be an issue but -

Yea I've heard they've been doing some bug fixing (console in particular).

I did some search on the server: apparently the devs said they don't intend to have another save wipe.. but.. you know... they also indented to release a full game with 1.0

Good to know! And yea I was surprised to see things that I assumed would be done for 1.0/full release still being done according to the dev dairy
