Hello, I would just like to add that I am also getting this issue. It happens everytime I try to catch this specific insect, I have to force exit with task manager.

I have not tried to catch the black widow yet. only the magnolia jumper.

I have also encountered this issue (while streaming no less) with the magnolia green. Twice by the lake as pictured above and once near the farm.
Also on PC Game Pass. RTX 2080ti, Ryzen 9 3950X

This issue occurrs on Xbox consoles as well every single time you attempt to catch either insect. The game crashes back to the Xbox Dashboard

What's interesting is, it seems (from my admittedly anecdotal information) tied to the action of catching the critters specifically. I retrieved a black widow from a ground insect trap without issue.
