On the wiki it says you need a silver axe to break the big logs for hardwood, but when I try to break them it says the silver axe isn't good enough, but I need hardwood to upgrade my axe so I'm kinda stumped (heheh) Is this a bug or did they change the tool req for the big logs? How else can I get hardwood to upgrade my axe?

You can chop the big logs in the forest with the silver axe, just not the ones on your farm. Once the additional forest area opens if it's not already for you, you'll be able to get the hardwood for upgrading, then can chop the big logs on your farm for the rest of the upgrades.
