#How do children work?

all kids are adopted. After you get married, you'll be asked if you wanna have kids (like in SDV) and you'll end up with a kid. No pregnancy
Oh that stinks :( So it doesn't matter if you're a same sex couple or not it's just adoption straight up for everyone?
Yep
I found it ridiculous.
You should be asked if you want to adopt or get pregnant.
And to top it off, you can't even know the sex of the baby.
Kids are currently in development. You can have a baby or two, but they won't grow up. You can name them, and I'm sure there will be a way to know if its a boy or a girl implemented soon.
I'm pretty sure that if you are an opposite sex couple the implication is that you have a baby view pregnancy, and if you're same sex its adoption. Again, I'm sure this distinction will be made clear as family life is developed.
I don't know if you're expecting your farmer or female spouse to have a pregnancy belly, no farming sims have ever done that. From the earliest Harvest Moon, to Stardew Valley. Wording could be clearer, sure, just be patient.
I don't think you need to have a pregnancy belly (although it would be cool). But a choice whether you want to adopt or get pregnant is absolutely necessary. And when naming, it is essential to show the Baby's gender.
I didn't know that and I continued playing, but I noticed that there was no dialogue about pregnancy or anything like that, which was very frustrating. And now I gave a boy's name to a baby that I don't even know if it's going to be a boy.
And I hate having to start the game over again, just to get the new dialogues and have a baby the way I want, it's a lot of work.
Until now I didn't understand the decision to define the game as 1.0 if the main game flows weren't even finished. I agree that we need to be patient, but many people's patience has already reached its limit, as the game is full of problems on several platforms and is still incomplete. The game is incredible, it has a lot of potential, but the company's decisions are being terrible. Just to be clear, I understand that it takes time, games are very challenging to develop. But the moment a game is given as 1.0, then it has to be ready.
Thank you for the answer, I hope I wasn't offensive.
You weren't offensive. I'm completely with you that the game should not have been released as a full 1.0 game yet. While there are good points, I've seen a lot of issues arising on PC and other platforms, which isn't okay. I don't know whether there was pressure from the publisher, or that the Coral Island team just thought the majority would be okay with a game that is, at best, only half finished and riddled with bugs and game breaking issues.
I'm holding out hope that the Merfolk update will have a lot of the issues that have been mentioned in this 1.0 release fixed, including things to do with children, family life and such. When my farmer was engaged it bothered me that no one mentioned it. And no one mentions the pregnancy or the baby once its born, except for the spouse, not even family of the spouse or anything like that.
So while I suggest being patience, I understand that patience is wearing thin for a lot of people, myself included. I've taken a break from playing at least until the next big update. I'm hoping players won't have to start from scratch again when it is implemented. My main point was that I just don't think the family life/baby/pregnancy aspect of things was top priority for the development team for the 1.0 release. I guess they wanted more of a story to be present, and to at least complete getting the town to A rank, even though it is still largely unfinished.
