Am I the only one who didn't know that the storyline from EA would not be finished by release, started a new game and am now not able to progress any further than my ea save? I wish I had waited till 2024 because now I've lost my chance to transfer money

Perhaps I'm not quite understanding. Since you updated to 1.0, your new save file is permanently compatible with the system. Any updates and patches released will reflect in your save. So when more of the story line is released, you don't have to start from the beginning. It'll just update your game and you continue on.
Unless you mean gameplay being seamless, then yes, you would need to wait. Nothing wrong with playing and puttering around in your garden. Some of them have gotten quite fancy, I might have to take a page out of other player's books!

I'm also incredibly disappointing that the 1.0 isn't a full base game. In a 1.0 i shouldn't be able to unlock things that aren't available. My pet shouldn't be locked indoors. They are making huge changes to the merfolk storyline it seems. I want the full experience of playing the game with a 1.0. The only thing that's new that I can see is marriage. Their long list of "new" stuff was almost completely available in early access.
