placing chests (steam deck)

I feel like I am asking a really dumb question, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to place a chest on the ground to store items inside. I made a makeshift chest and I can't find an option (when holding and when not) to place it on the ground. Thanks for answering my dumb question!

you just use the same input while holding the chest you use to use items, like swinging your pickaxe! are you seeing the green placement marker on the ground? if it's red it would mean you can't place there

im a pc user so if this doesn't help sorry but i didn't see a response yet and if this helps im happy

thanks! definitely not seeing the green square, even in the house. very weird. might try on the PC to see if it's a weird SD input issue.

it will only work on your farm i believe, i don't think they work inside :(

For the house, you need to enter decor mode. You do this by pressing down the right joystick

thanks, all! worked fine on PC, so might be a Steam Deck controller configuration issue. appreciate all the help!
