Yes, I've done both several times... my game still won't open and gives the same error
Can you send us your save file? For Steam Deck, your save file would most likely be stored in 'compatdata' (filepath:/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata). From there, you will see lots of folder with random number, Coral Island folder should be the one with code number '1158160'. Enter that folder, into the pfx folder, then drive_c folder, then you can follow the file path here: Users\ <username>\AppData\Local\ProjectCoral\Saved\SaveGames to find your save file

It is updated to the latest version, the update that came out 1.0
May I ask if you're still unable to play following the 1.0 release?
Yes, even with version 1.0 I can't play the game. It gives exactly the same error and won't open
