Visit Ling at the diving pier?

I just noticed one of my quests that says "Visit Ling at the diving pier." I went to the pier, into Ling's lab, nothing is happening. How do I unlock diving/complete this quest?

If your quest log is saying that then your file is old and got caught in a bad bug where you can’t progress the quest line & will need a new file if you’re wanting to do the ocean fully 🫡

Bc I’m assuming based on that quest, that you also don’t have the extractor machine

Oh boy. Fun. Is there a way to update my game on steam that will fix the bug in the future?

Just so it doesn't happen again. Also should I report the bug or are the devs aware of it?

It’s a very old bug that was patched up a while back, so no need to report

(When bugs are patched in majority of cases with this game it means the bug is fixed to prevent happening again, but no fix available to revert any damage the bug may have done on files)

So new save should be totally fine 🙂

if it happened again on new save file that the quest got stuck there / didn’t progress then that’d be a bug report for sure, but that shouldn’t happen 🙂

If you had a long gap between your last playthrough and the new one, I rec a restart anyway - there'll likely be a lot of errors

(And by long gap I mean skipped a patch at least)

I only bought the game a few days ago and started this file/playthrough yesterday, so if it's an old bug that's been fixed I'm not sure why it's causing an issue

Restart of the computer (I play on PC) or restart Steam? Idk how to update the game manually, I assumed it was automatic

That's really odd then. I meant restart a playthrough, as some of us have been around since v0.1 and the files get crankier as they get older

Definitely report this if it's a new playthrough, search to see if others are having the problem as well?

Yeah if you’ve gone to diving pier (south of the Inn, connected to the dock from cutscene at start of game) and nothing has happened then somehow the bug persisted 😅

Oh my gosh I'm so sorry you guys, I didn't realize I was at the wrong place and the cutscene showed up. We're all good 😅 sorry!
