#tree won't fruit

Hi - so, unlike in Stardew, there are three categories of things you can plant.
Crops - which are as you understand them to be.
Fruit plants/seedlings - 2x2, come in a white bag, require watering, tilled ground, and will die when they are out of season (which is why the banana withered)
Fruit trees/saplings - 3x3, come in a brown bag, do not require watering or tilled ground, and will go dormant they are out of season.
While I can't speak for certain plants, this is actually somewhat realistic for a banana tree, as it is botanically a bush and not a tree
okay, so the one that's grown: the dragonfruit? i need to water it?
thank you for taking time to answer!!
Yes the dragonfruit is classed as a plant and needs water
Yes, they will need watering in order to 'progress' to the next stage, just like crops.
On the upside, plants don't die if they don't get watered, they just won't continue to produce/grow
