Crash while saving during going to bed

Version: v0.5-205

Description: I cannot play due to the game crashing while trying to save after sleeping. I have been stuck on Spring 25, Year 3. I’ll do my daily tasks, go to bed….and the “saving” screen takes forever, then the game crashes. Even if I wake up and immediately go to bed, it crashes. One time I was able to get it to advance to Spring 26, but I can’t go past that date.

At first I thought it was because I purchased the final house upgrade. The upgrade is complete on Spring 26. I did, however, roll back to an earlier save. Spring 24 crashes when I go to bed and Spring 23 crashes too.

I have included three different crash reports from me trying the game this morning. I also click “report and restart” every time the crash screen comes up.

I’ve tired a few more times. I’ve recovered my save back to spring 23 and everything I do seems to crash. Wake up and go to bed, crash during save. Have a normal day, crash during save. Try to do everything normal but not interact with the auto chest, crash during save. Try to do everything normal but not interact with the animals, crash during save. I’m not sure what’s causing it 😦

Hi @dapper nexus. Thank you for the report. Can you provide a detailed description of what you were doing in-game before the crash occurred? 🙂

It was a normal day. I did the mines, got the last ocean critter I needed for spring and donated it to the museum, and did daily farm chores like collect animal products/crops and drop them into the auto chests.

I’ve read that auto chests might be the problem, so I’ve tried not interacting them on that day but the game still crashes when I go to sleep. It crashes even if I wake up and go directly back to sleep.

The only other thing I could think of was I redesigned my farm a day or so before the crashes started occurring but I couldn’t find that backup file. I wonder if me placing ground tiles underneath of my sheds and my fish ponds are causing the crash

Here’s an example of me loading up the backup save (Spring 23, year 3) and going straight to bed with a crash

Update: I removed all of the paths under other objects and the game still crashes when sleeping

I see. Could you please provide us with your save files so we can analyze it? 🙂

For Steam Deck, your save file would most likely be stored in 'compatdata' (filepath:/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata). From there, you will see lots of folder with random number, Coral Island folder should be the one with code number '1158160'. Enter that folder, into the pfx folder, then drive_c folder, then you can follow the file path here: Users\ <username>\AppData\Local\ProjectCoral\Saved\SaveGames to find your save file 🙂

Update: I have removed all of my auto chests and now the game no longer crashes. I will try to slowly add them back to see if there’s a limit or a certain machine that is causing the crash. For reference, I removed 27 auto chests.

Update 2: I have put 7 auto chests back. Things are working fine and I’ve made my way to summer 2. Now the game just shuts off every time I enter the museum 😂. At least I’m able to play, though!

idk if your game will act like mine, but turning off the game and coming back later causes the amount of chests that previously worked before to make the game crash.

Aaaaaaaand now the game won’t start at all. This is so disappointing.

I uninstalled and reinstalled and the game started up. I took the advice of Obsidian earlier in this thread and removed all of my auto chests. Now that the auto chests are gone, I have had 0 game crashes.
