I'm wondering how the different quality fishing rods have been programmed. I don't like fishing very much in farming games so I always wait until I can buy a higher quality rod to do the fishing bundles and quests, but I'm having a problem that the more common fish become very hard to come by, for example with my gold rod I spent ALL day at my pond and failed to get a shrimp for the museum, same happened for blue tang at the ocean, I got 8 octopus and spent all day there just trying to get the most basic fish for the museum. 11 barracudas before getting a single cod etc. Mudskips only before trying again the next day to get a zebra fish in the rice fields. Does the type of fishing rod change the type of fish you catch?

Once I’m at pc I can grab a pic of the cast length diff chances table (it’s not saved on my phone)
I spent all morning trying for a cobia (supposed to be common) but I only got 11 barracudas (supposed to be rare) its so frustrating bc these fish are harder to catch and takes longer to catch them
I tried casting less on the gold rod; at 1/5, 2/5,3/5 still only barracuda/rare fish
Then I thought maybe it could be that I can only catch common fish on basic rod so got it from my chest still no luck only barracudas
But even worse it seems to have caused a bug having both fishing rods in my backpack, now the cast length of my gold rod is reduced to the same as the basic rod (3)
Here is a picture, clearly gold rod and only max 3 cast ability. I saved and went to next day, took the basic rod out of my bag and I still only have 3 cast on the gold rod 😦
You keep your old rod when you buy an upgraded one no ? In that case you can use the basic one
I tried that ^
finally got on pc!
