I don't even know how to kill the things that burrow. I just use a lot of dynamite. I don't particularly like combat in this game, esp. with each update. It's making mining really unpleasant because I spend more time fighting than mining. I did search for the answer to this because I'm more than sure it's in an obvious place.

Very bottom of the main page in setting you can toggle monster aggro settings - swap it from ‘default’ to ‘Hit to Aggro’ & then you only have to worry about monsters if you go looking for a fight bc you’ll be initiating combat, not the monsters 🙂
