Animal Mood always "Okay"

My ungrateful animals have never been "happy" in the entire time that I have had them. I pet them every day. They are fed every day. I let them out on nice days to graze in the grass. Still, they always have a neutral mood. Once the chicken and duck were cranky because it was winter and there was not a temperature control machine in the coop. I remedied that immediately and they returned to a "neutral" mood. My chicken (50 days old, max hearts), duck (50 days old, max hearts), cow (44 days old, max hearts), and sheep (23 days old, 5 hearts) have never been "happy". Am I missing something?

Wait what! I thought okay is normal, all my chickens ducks cows and sheeps are all okay

They should be happy, you need to pet them, feed them and let them outside and keep temperature under control

See I thought it would come with time, I do all of what meowmeowbeans says and they are still not happy. I realized it when I saw a picture of a happy cow someone posted and I realized mine have never been “happy”.

i figured it out already. i think in one coop we cant have full animals.
for example if the coop can fits up to 4 animals, don't fill it with all 4 animals
try upgrade it and it will max to 8 animals, it becomes bigger coop , then they will happy
i upgraded my cows' barn and they all happy now, i add 2 more goats so it's only 6/8 animals, and they are all happy

Hmm, maybe it's the upgraded barn and coop then. I'll try to get the upgrade and see if that helps. I am at 2/4 animals in both my barn and my coop.

I have everything completely filled and no problems raising happiness, so that shouldn't be it. It would also be a really annoying and strange design choice if it would work like that. I think something else is going on, I have seen a lot more people mention something like this

I only have neutral or ok animals in my new(ish) save. I did the coop and barn after the update. I have one cow, sheep, chicken, duck. I do everything I’m meant to (I’ve been playing for a long time) and have the temp machine. Nothing makes them happy. If upgraded barn is the trick, that’s annoying.

If that is really the case I'd almost have to assume it's a bug

I think it might be a bug. I posted here to see if I was missing something but I might post it in the bug reports now.
