How often/quickly do critters respawn?
I am currently bug hunting and I'm wondering how long it takes for bugs to respawn in an area.
Is it like every hour or is there more time in between?

Bugs & critters only have chance to spawns at the change of time, in relation to the time of day catch windows
Morning = 6am-noon
Afternoon = noon - 6pm
Evening = 6pm -8pm
Night = 8pm-1am
Only fish have the full specificity of those above time frames, bugs & fish are simply Day (morning & afternoon) or Night (evening & night)
So while there is only day vs night bugs & critters, if you go around and catch during the early morning, there can be respawns during afternoon. But largely it 100% refills spawns when day swaps to night

Ahhh, I see. My next question then is, why do some area's respawn when they have been cleared of critters? Like, I went into the same area a couple times and there were bugs almost every time (without the day passing into another time frame like you mentioned

My guess is that area might be the inn/lookout area of beach - bc i know there’s a infinite spawning when reloading that area for coconut trees so possibly the bugs are affected too?
Outside of that tho I wouldn’t know tbh
I used to track bug respawns every 3-5 in game hours, back before we had the exact time of day information. Once I had the time of day stuff confirmed, I noticed the respawns more so tied into that as opposed to every few hours, although could be both
