So I got my first animal a sheep, and I do have the temperature machine, been feeding and petting daily and it is 4 days old I go to pet it but seems as if it always just says it’s okay and there is no red hearts… what am I doing wrong? As it wasn't like this on my main game... on my main game I'd tend to them daily then I get red hearts and they were all good and happy

Ok so is mine stuck because it's just on gray and say 6 days old and just the sheep is only okay

Do you let it out to graze? Is it alone in the barn? Is it out during bad weather?

Also do you have perks active to increase hearts faster?

I don't let it out because its winter I don't want Sheepie to freeze... yes I named it Sheepie as I only got a sheep to test out the animals in the beta testing.. and I needed large wool for something... the collector or feeder

I got sheepie in winter, so never has been out

I just bought a pig , named Piggie so sheepie has a buddy and so I can get truffles hahah

ahh screw it i also bought a cow and a goat 🙂 so def not lonely now

Pigs have to go outside and graze in grass to get you truffles. You can let them out in winter as long as it is a sunny day and you have temp control

Temp control helps a lot if you haven't got it yet - 600

Once they're happier the hearts will increase faster, at least in my personal experience

Also grass does slowly die off in winter BUT you can just buy a bunch of grass starters and put them down for your pig when necessary

I never bought any grass starters yet as I read in the main version it won't stay alive in winter so I'll wait until spring.. but yeah I got the temperature machine for 600.. and now they have other animals, waiting for winter to be over so I can let them graze... what is this perk your talking about?

It may be a tier 2 perk, but there's one which lets you increase friendship with your animals faster

But if you're counting on it to spread, it won't.

Basically uh treat it as outdoor hay, you put some down and replace when needed

It takes about a week or 2 to die off completely (depending on how much snow you get)

It’s cheap and easy to plant, and you don’t need much either

I saw how they added the pets, I wish they added more cats 😦 but maybe in the future they will add more variety of cats?

Hay is eaten, but grass can be instead

They eat hay, but if you let them out they will eat grass

Which they eat will also depend on when you let them out, but it doesn’t really matter much

Keeping them happy in winter is harder than it used to be, but still easier than when sickness was introduced earlier this beta

yeah I got all the animal stuff even medicine ahead of time

just need to make them happy but i still got like most of winter left... not even half way through

but I get the snowdrop plant any day now 🙂 also completed the offering with the ores and kelp , and the one with all the silver fruits and plants

You have less in the way of farming so take the chance to explore the mines and dive, stock up on resources

I use winter to redecorate, explore areas, get more diving/mining done and harass the townies

true good time to explore, right now i am waiting for my gold hoe to finish so I can upgrade to osium as I want all my tools upgraded like i did on my main game

Also, I got luckier with some fish in winter because there's a smaller spawn pool

right now I am diving I am finishing the osium kelp , heal the coral tree

on my main game I did complete the fish offerings but only because i followed a venn diagram of when , and where , day/night

Fishing for winter legendaries is easier and they can make you a pretty penny

but i need more osium kelp essence i think so I am also doing that as I only have enough for htat machine for my barn , not my coop but the coop I didn't start yet since I don't have all materials

Horses are fine regardless, you need a separate stable though

my battery thing was working for a while now i got up to 25 batteries now its stuck again and its only stuck at 1 i thought they fixed it but now i have proof for the devs

they are happy already and i just let them out since was a nicer day!!

It’s worse in summer and winter, but if you let them out during bad weather there’s a chance of it happening any season

You also should get the temp control before summer, should be able to buy it at the ranch
