#New to the game.

Focus on levelling up your town rank as quickly as possible. You need an increased town rank to be able to complete the altar that unlocks the Greenhouse for winter, and my biggest regret was not knowing I'd need to be levelled up in order to get the correct seeds for the greenhouse altar, meaning i had to wait another full year in game before unlocking it. The best way, imo, to increase your town rank is diving. Clear all the trash you can, and get all the coffers/collectibles you can and donate to the museum. Save your gems, essences, etc that you don't donate or offer to the altar - dont sell them yet! you'll need them later.
Thank you so much! I'm always wondering what to save or keep when i start a new life sim game so this confirmation helps a lot. Looks like i'll keep one of everything until i get used to it.
That's always a struggle for me too!! I tend to be a hoarder in these types of games for that reason haha. Probably also worth mentioning that there's also some items that you can only get via reward (e.g. a reward from donating certain # of items to museum or winning a festival game) and you cant get elsewhere yet, (like gold kelp until the deep diving update), so save that stuff until you get a Replicator, which allows you to replicate items you cant easily get (my entire current gold kelp supply has come from replicating a 5 gold kelp reward). Hope these are helpful tips for you! ❤️
All of this, plus do not, I repeat do not discard trash. You need trash to make scrap which is used in many of the recipes for farm automation stuff like sprinklers and others. You also need trash to make compost, which leads to fertilizer.
There is also a guy who lives in a van near the back of the map who sells scarecrows that cover a ridiculous range. Take advantage of this. It can be pricey but you'll be happy when you can have a large garden area to work with and not have to deal with lost crop plot space.
And do not sleep on diving! Diving gets you so much trash, kelp that will be used for tech down the line, foragables, critters to catch and so much more.
And I'd advise mining before the new update, as the creatures down there are easy now, but from what I've heard about the betas monsters, its gonna get real soon. So go ahead and clear them out and get cool stuff down there.
Sorry if that's a lot, but these are some things that I've done going in (mining, diving) and some things I wish I knew sooner (the importance of trash, a phrase I never thought I'd hear myself say).
About the beta monsters: they did add a toggle, but if you want to get those specific monster drops it's def easier in main
Thank you all so much!
Also one very important thing is to go to your Settings and lower the default 100% in-game day speed to 50% so you have more time to do what you need to do. 100% is brutal and almost impossible to get anything done for early and even mid-game
Thank you! I forgot to mention this point as well! It is probably the single most useful tip! Doing this can make it so you can almost run one of the mine Gates in a single day, especially if you start right at 6am and don't stop till night. And you can always reset the speed back to 100% if you are waiting for the shops to open or something. Very handy trick that I hope they never remove.
Just as a general headsup:
The upcoming update will change quite a few things. One of the biggest things is the ability to get gold and osmium kelp, which isn't in main yet - so they are a little scarce rn but don't fret about it!
If you need help with something more immediate/specific, #🐔coral-general is the place to go.
Another good point. Osmium is not available at all, and gold you can get as rewards for a few things, but it's a very limited supply. Large quantities can only be obtained currently from the Lab and for a high high price.
Osmium kelp is available. As a museum reward after donating 275 items. Then the slime of replication can make you more of it. But it's a lot of work to get to that point.
I wasn't aware it was a reward. I don't feel like it's worth farming for it though at this point. Just wait till update time, but if someone wanted to, it's nice to know it's technically possible.
hopefully this would be helpful in making money whether you're just starting (from F rank) or when you already have your farm running
- foraging (shake coconut trees every 15-19th day of each season)
- make makeshift chest and put everything there except for your tools
- plant seeds and wild seeds as much as you can, little by little, buy seeds from the money you got from foraging and quest reward. (don't forget scarecrows so no crow could steal your crops)
- once you got 3000 + 1500 coins, buy ranch and coop blueprint at the carpenter, buy 1 cow, 1 chicken and pet and feed them everyday.
- upgrade seeds and hay to bronze quality
- complete your activating orbs during diving, and donate around 100 collections to the museum to get rank C BEFORE THE WINTER OF THE FIRST YEAR.
- you can upgrade your house to have a kitchen. bug jerky used to help alot to gain money to buy more seeds but it got nerfed now (from 235 to 25 🥲)
- collect trash, craps, and kelps as much as you can to make sprinkle
- upgrade seeds and hay into silver quality
- expand your farm with a lot of sprinkles, then make alot of mason jar, kegs, and bee house, then plant the most worthy crops each season like:
spring:
- strawberry (greenhouse, mason jar)
- cauliflower (mason jar)
summer:
- pineapple (mason jar)
- melon (for mason jar)
- lily (for bee house)
fall:
- bokchoy (most profit crops)
- radish (most profit crops)
- cactus (bee house, sam doesn't sell this after 0.3 update, but he did before and I think it would comeback next update)
- garlic (mason jar)
- pumpkin (keg)
- fairy rose (for bee house)
winter:
- snowdrop (I forgot the other 2 worth if ranked)
cmiiw or you can google! hope it helps 😁
I've never actually planted strawberry in the spring, nor used cauliflower for profit. My go to spring crop is sugar cane. Grows in like 4 days or something, and then is able to be harvested every 2 days or something until the season ends. Good for profit.
sugarcane can be harvested everyday. for the ones who don't wanna harvest everyday it kinda pain cz the price is so little it depends of high frequency of harvest
My tip would be keep all resources you get even compost, trash etc just keep everything I know sounds silly but it will help in the future when you need that resource for something important.. as well I try to look ahead online to ensure I have all the resources I need to build something before I actually need to build it… if that makes sense.. scavengables , fruits, vegetables, ores I sell them but I collect enough ores to create the bars I need for buildings, temple offering, upgrades , equipment prior to selling the ore … the bronze or silver ore isn’t worth much but it helps then there is gold which is okay, then there is the osium (fire mine) the last mine that’s worth the most and can get you easy gold
It’s also best to do temple offerings first before museum donations as they do overlap sometimes but temple offerings are way more important then the museum in the game
Another tip with regards to osmium, or any metal for that matter, is once you've unlocked the mine elevator for floors 1, 5, 15 and 25, you can (for now) farm those floors for easy ore. In the current build, monsters do not spawn on these floors. They are just square rooms that get increasingly larger as you go. They don't always have ore, but I find on floors 15 and 25 there's almost always at least 1 breakable rock with ore of that mine in it. You can always farm the entire mine, but if your looking for a quick 25+ ore per day, it's an easy trick.
and always keep a lookout for floor cracks!! they give so much ores :3
You all are the best! Thanks for taking the time to give me tips. 🖤
is there a way to clear tieled soil? or do I have to wait for a few days for them to clear if i dont put seed and dont water them
Just use your pickaxe on them
