#How to grow sap trees?

I used a hoe to dig a hole, added water with a watering can to the tile, and put the oak/pine/maple seeds inside.
But some of them didn't seem to be growing.
I dug those problematic ones out and repeated the steps, but it didn't seem to work

yes I need the sap, but it's too troublesome to run around the island, so I'd rather use a tap

if it's 2 blocks, meaning there needs to be 2 tiles left right up down?

you have to cut the tree down for regular sap
treat it like a t1 sprinkler- the surrounding 8 tiles must be empty

regular trees are
- just the seed in the ground, no digging
- no water
- just let it go. they all will grow at different rates
taps wil not give the regular sap- taps give, maple syrup, nutty sap, and resin (you will need resin though)
