Which fish are you looking for? @narrow basalt
this may be obvious but just keep fishing and if you're out of time for certain fish do save scum (go fish until you get it and reload your save if it doesn't show up) hope it'll work!
I haven't gotten any of them. So the giant yellow eel, sturgeon, gator gar, airapaima and giant sea bass
there is a post on reddit its a ven diagram that helped me get all the fishs
and insects
I have everything except for airapaima
I’ll update u on the details on where I got them just bcs Im about to sleep rn 🤣🤣
arapaima i caught in winter at the forest river, right outside the cavern
it does need specific weather though and took me quite a while
thinking that you may have better luck in certain seasons like winter because the possible spawns are drawn from a smaller pool - so possibly winter for arapaima even though it's in three seasons
I literally posted where to get the fish in the Venn diagram but if people don’t wanna follow it ok then
I got my last 2 fishes in winter the first time I had my fishing pole out there 🤣 guess I was lucky
I am following it, I am just not getting the fish.
Your not gonna find it instantly usually takes times… and I think a lot of people didn’t notice certain fish have certain swimming/hooking patterns so you’ll know when it’s your fish or not
I'm in year 3. It's not for lack of trying, but I'll keep doing the same thing and hoping it turns out different. It's just amazing to me that after 3 years of game I am still 0/5 fish.
I'd love to give you the tips, but it's easier if you tell me which fish you wanna catch first. like, what season are you now?
because detailing every of 5 fish is kinda useless as wiki and koenig have all the info regarding place, season, weather, and time.
say you're currently on the beginning of spring, detail every spring fish in the wiki/koenig and pay more attention to the fish that only spawn in a tight window, like only during evening/night, only certain dates, or only when raining.
if you miss the chance you'll have to wait next year, most probably
you shouldn't focus only on the fish for the temple offering, even if it's rewarding. you must also focus to complete all fish, because completing collection have a bonus point as well.
also, temple offering would require you catch 2 fish each, 1 for museum 1 for offering.
if you haven't got arapaima, try during rainy fall on the river in front of the mine. not inside the mine, but the river forest, in front of the monkey shop.
I always got arapaima there, rather than in the waterfall.
Yes I got them inside doe
It was so easy for me (the game was forgiving)
I mean it's easier to give you exact location of where I got them if you tell me 1 fish at a time that you wanna catch first, linked to which season are you right now
someone said giant sea bass been increasingly harder each time but all you gotta do is being patient pulling them lol
Yeah as I said your not gonna find it instantly, it takes time for the rare fish . But the guide I followed it completely and found them all to where it was said
I’ve caught almost all in first year on most recent save. Rest sometimes can’t catch until year 2. You can always save scum if you’re close to being out of the fishing window and haven’t caught one of them. The wiki, Alex’s site and the checklist all have season, location and conditions.
Then I'll keep doing that. Thank you. I'm currently in Spring, trying to get Gator Gar from the lake Temple in the morning and early afternoon
I've got all the fishes, but it took me a time to do it. You need to note seasons, weather etc and take a day, within theses specificities to catch them
Gator gar is spring 3-28, lake and forest river, afternoons only during rain/storm
Going every day outside of those conditions and times won’t get you the fish
Also just to check: are you trying this on the main or beta?
If this is in beta it may be worth bringing up in bugs or feedback as that's a possible reason too
good luck! gator gar is only on bad weather (raining or so) personally I don't have problems getting em as long as the season, weather, time, and place are correct.
the hardest to find is GWS afaik
Oh crud. I just got through spring and I haven't had a rainy day. Is there some kind of ringtone or something to make it rain?
Weekly weather is determined when you sleep Sunday, so you’d have to save scum that day to force different weather for the rest of the week
Really?! I didn't know that
I also just realized, since I was using a different tool from the beta, that it was not telling me what I thought it was. Oof.
I know we can use the wiki to reference things, but I'm JUST NOW finding out how many different areas there technically are to fish from because of the wiki. I feel like the game needs to give some assistance in explaining a bit...cause fishing from the Lookout is just as much the "Ocean" to me as standing at the beach. I didn't realize that they were considered different areas.
theres an item comig in the update which helps with this, for bug catching too 😄
It would be nice if area and conditions were mentioned in fish area of journal too
Oh thank goodness. I was sooooo frustrated when I pulled up the wiki today because I was like "this is the 900th crab I've caught. What is happening."
I've been trying to learn mostly "natural"
Bait helps, I just want it to be sold at the beach shack again
But I came here because I was also getting annoyed I couldn't find any of the rare ones.
I've been making the bait as best I can. It was more a "am I in the wrong place?"
To find out, yes, because there's 15 places to go, instead of like 5.
I kind of just hate using resources making it and ending with non fish items more than anything
There’s also a bug so if you forget to store bait and keep it equipped when you close the game or sleep it usually disappears
Fair. I'm not fond of fishing in most games, so I've been putting it off.
Fish ponds help too, don’t need to try for multiples of a fish for altar and museum. Or for gifts
Some of the rare fish are really difficult though, so good luck! Happy catching
Thank you! You too!
