So the grass is right where I need to plant my other fruit tree. But I can't cut it no matter how many times I swing my tools. Is this a bug? Please help.

This is a known bug in beta, yes

It happened to me as well, but it seems that some of the beta bugs are random (at least from what I could tell), like that one, the mines, the one where the hoe stops working off farm, the object placement issues and such. I was able to cut the stubborn grass a few days after the first try, but the object placement problem I can fix by going inside my house and back out, so maybe a cutscene or something like that could also fix it at some point.
