#crash after first house Upgrade.

Hello! does the problem still happens if you start the game and come across the cutscene again? did you happen to skip the cutscene before it happens?
Hi, I'm also on the Steam Deck, and I just upgraded my house for the first time, but it froze on me too while they were explaining the TV.
Hi @elfin wadi! did you happen to skip the cutscene while it plays? if you restart the game, does the issue still persist?
I didn't skip the cutscene. Once I restarted the game, I could upgrade the house without any freezing issues.
I see! did you notice anything different from when you restarted the game and the previous one that has the freezing cutscene?
When I first tried to upgrade the house, the animation froze after Dinda says its old and bulky but still works perfectly.
The second time i tried to upgrade, the animation and dialogue continued after Dinda says its old and bulky but still works perfectly.
I see! I will take note of this and notify the devs later, I'm glad everything works normally in your game now 😄
The same thing happened to me - Dinda said the tv was old and bulky and then it just froze. The music kept playing but I had to force quit the game. I also hadn’t saved before that point so I’m going again 😂 I’ll update when I get to the same point to see what happens. Glad it got sorted after a restart @elfin wadi
Can play it also second time round 😁
Hi. I got coral island during the first day of the summer sale but it kept crashing after that first little job of collecting wood and stone. Both times I went to turn it in, the game would freeze and crash and I’d have to re open steam. I never got to the part where my house got that first upgrade. I ended up refunding. But I’m wondering if I should try again? Or if I need to change any in game settings from whatever is default?
Hello! Thanks for reaching out to us, and I'm sorry about the crash you've experienced 🙇♀️
Do you received any crash log after it happened? Can you please send it here? 😮
You can access the crash log by copy-paste this file path into your Windows Explorer: %localappdata%\ProjectCoral\Saved\Crashes then filter the date to the recent one, and send the .xml file here!
I use the steam Deck, I tried doing what you suggested but it didn’t work. I am not tech savvy so I was unable to find anything 😦
This is all I was able to find within the steam deck applications
I was able to find that project coral file but it doesn’t show a crashes folder.
All I found were 6 files titled CrashReportClient.ini but they don’t show that .xml anywhere with it the terminal thing
Ah, forgive me! You can follow this file path on Steam Deck! 🙂
Please check 'compatdata', the file path is: /home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata.
From there, you will see lots of folder with random number. Coral Island folder should have the code number '1158160'.
Enter that folder, into the pfx folder, then drive_c folder, then follow this path: Users<username>\AppData\Local\ProjectCoral\Saved\Crashes and the .xml file should be the crash log!
I was able to figure it out shortly after I posted, however there is no Crashes folder 😫 projectcoral folder contains: SaveGames
Config
Logs
If I enter into Config folder, there’s another folder inside called CrashReportClient
I’ll add a photo of what is in this folder! (More folders, lol)
Also, the Logs folder I mentioned earlier is empty.
Ah, I see! Would you be able to record the crash issue by any chance? 😮
I’m not sure, I skipped the intro and was able to play for a long while, several days worth, but I’m on day 15 I think? And I played for about an hour, the last 10 or so minutes I spent diving, and when I clicked on the anchor to resurface, the loading screen froze for several minutes, and my steam deck’s light indicator started going off for overheating. Prior to this session I’d been ending days early because I was scared to lose all of my progress but I got carried away on that day 15 one and it ended up crashing again 😞
Thank you for sharing this info. Can you tell me how long you've been playing the game before your Steam Deck overheats? 😮
About an hour, the incident with day 15 was the first time I became aware that it was overheating, but I can’t be sure it was the first/only time
Can you describe more about the crash? When you had the crash, does it open up a window with a bunch of code inside it? Or is it just a black screen then going back to the menu? 😮
The screen freezes for x amount of time, then for the actual crash, it goes black for a bit and then closes out steam. It doesn’t log me out, just closes the app. I’ve successfully been able to play these past few days without any crashes tho! I am into the first couple days of summer. Really hoping the issue resolved itself 🤞🏼
