#Xbox Game Bar Background Recording Not Working, Game PC v.0.4-66637

After the update to Coral Island v.0.4-66637.

I noticed that Xbox Game Bar Background video recording wasn’t working. It would sometimes record the sound but show a blank video screen. Or sometimes just record a few seconds of the Game Pause Screen (the screen that opens if the game window loses focus).

The video recording would work if I manual started and stopped recording by clicking the button on the Xbox Game Bar.

I was able to work around this by doing two main things

1) Reset the Xbox Game Bar

  1. Go to Start > PC Settings > Apps
  2. Search for “Xbox Game Bar” in the “Apps & features” List > Click the entry > Advanced Options
  3. Scroll down to “Reset” > Click "Reset" | This will reset all your custom app settings for recording

2) Set the In-Game Display Option to Borderless Window

  1. Launch the Game
  2. Go to Settings > Display Icon (2nd from left) > Display Mode
  3. Select “Borderless”

Don’t forget to reconfigure your settings for Xbox Game Bar and Game Recording after doing this!

Hopefully, this helps someone. It took me a while to figure out.

Does anyone know why this happened? I only figured it out because someone posted in a random forum that Rocket League had a similar problem.

My Windows Version:
Edition: Windows 10 Pro
Version: 22H2
OS build: 19045.3086
Experience: Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19041.1000.0

Game Version: v.0.4-66637
Steam Version: 1686880776

@weak delta @teal trench Do you know if anything has changed since the previous versions?

Maybe something related to how the game handles window focus when the Display Mode is "Full Screen"?

I'm just wondering because this is new behaviour and it might impact people trying to stream or record their game.

Hi @ivory axle! I'm sorry it took me a while to reply!

The game itself shouldn't affect any other app or the recording function. We think it could be caused by an update you recently done on your pc, such as a driver or Microsoft update?
