in my main save i did something i swear that turned off spiders. but i dont have that setting anymore? can i turn them back on?

That’s planned as an accessibility setting to toggle but isn’t active yet afaik

hmmm i for sure have never seen a spider as a catchable or in the mines anywhere... was it active for a while and now isnt?

Spiders in mines got replaced by other mobs. Spider bugs are pretty rare, so maybe that's why you did not see them.
