I never knew there were fossils in this game already till I started seeing people talk about them in youtube videos and in other groups I'm in. I've never found any fossils and I've completely finished every ocean thing You can do so far plus tilled up my whole beach. Also I got the museum upgrade saw I was rewarded a brush. But I never actually got the brush. Is my game bugged? Should I start over?

The Soft Bristle Brush you get rewarded for completing the museum quest is not a tool type item like pickaxe, bug net, etc.
It is a passive item, which auto applies once you receive it - like how Chieftain gives you ability to read the language on the sacred tree's stones, and how the fast travel ability given by Goddess is
So youll never see it in your inventry, but it will be listed on your player info in the Journal tab 🙂
