#Please help with fishing giant stingray :(

I can only really speak to the Bait because fishing in my experience is very much a beat-your-head-against-it-until-you-prevail type of deal. But bait does work.
I think people mistake large bait as being always the best, but Large Bait attracts a greater number of “large” fish, Medium Bait attracts a greater number of “medium” fish, etc.
If you’re going for, say, a silver Sardine, using Small Bait would aid in you attracting more small fish in general, which would theoretically improve your odds of nabbing that silver Sardine. If you’re looking to catch the Giant Stingray, the Large Bait would help you avoid catching a greater number of medium and small fish, and thereby improve your chances of even getting that stingray on your line.
Bait does not make it easier to reel in fish, however.
Thanks! I don't have any problems getting other legendary fishes but this one, it just snaps by itself. Is this normal?
It was my experience that the Giant Stingray did cause almost immediate breaks in my line over and over again until, by some weird fluke, it didn’t. All I can offer definitively is to keep at it, and maybe, maybe you’ll reel him in on a lucky cast.
Well I guess I'll just pray for lucky angler to work on it then...
Can I ask on which year did you get it?
I managed to catch the Stingray in Year 5, according to my Journal. 🥴
Oh that's a long journey. I'm in Year 2 and trying to complete my Pokedex before Year 3 🥹
I do think you can expect changes to fishing and bug catching in later updates. Right now, it’s a pain in the arse. 🥺
I'm pretty much done with collecting resources and building my farm etc rn so... yeah 🥹
Thanks for the advice! I will keep trying and will update here if I actually- get lucky 😊
Sending you all the good vibes!
I just saw there's a bait selling at Beach Shack. On wiki it says it reduces bite delay, do you know what exactly does that mean?
I assume it speeds up the time it takes to actually have a fish appear and bite your lure, but I can’t speak confidently or intelligently about that.
so for this- you'll be in the red zone about 100% of the time you're reeling it in, you have to almost constantly be reeling to get this. it takes some time but fight your need to give it time to relax and just reel until you can't. again you'll be in the red 100% of the time reeling this guy it but it can be done
I got my giant sea bass with lucky angler. I’m hoping it will kick in for the giant stingray for me too as I just can’t reel it in either.
The legendary fish on aggregate are just rude, in my opinion.
