I've seen with some other games that the XBox Game Pass version tends to get slower (sometimes zero) updates compared to its regular Steam version. Is Coral Island updated the same on both versions?

I believe they get the same updates, but the Game Pass version has a slight delay to get through their approval process. I don't think it's too long - like a few days from the Steam update going live?
Steam also allows them to beta run updates, usually two-three weeks before the update goes fully live on either service.

If you look at the main title screen, there is a count down to the next update. That date/count down has been pretty accurate since I have started playing (for the past 2 updates).
