Silver sardine & Rove Beetle

How long did it take you guys to get the sardine? Because I’m very irritated at this point. I’ve been fishing it for the past three falls and the only thing I’m getting is base quality, sardine, and one bronze quality.  I’ve tried fish bait, changing locations, nothing. Any tips? I’ve also been trying to find the Rove beetle and it’s been nowhere to be found.

Got my silver sardine in v0.2 - took 100+ sardines & 7 or 8 in games weeks - the only reason I bothered grinding for silver star for altar was bc it happened to be the only item I needed to compete the entire second altar (bc of v0.1 fishing I’d done) otherwise for me the silver star koi and sardine aren’t on my gotta get it list now, not until fishing quality is adjusted

Rove beetle clear all bugs in garden lane and vineyard during late afternoon - I always find more of the rare bugs when I clear the spawn zones in the timeframe/hour or two before the rate bug is set to spawn
After that just the combo of quality net and scent B

I fish it in the area right to the diving area (near chicken boat) don't change place. go to that place every 17.00 and higher quality fish mastery helps a lot. it took me 3 weeks without the mastery.

I forgot how many sardines/red ruby dragonet before I got silver sardines lol, probably 120 combined

My spot of choice is that area too! Definitely not the overlook. I also caught at least 100+ fish before hooking the silver sardine. Was doing it same time as the silver koi so I refused to fish for like the rest of the season after

To add context: it took me 1,311 deliberate attempts at catching a silver-quality Koi, using the Quality Rod and Medium Fish Bait, at Mastery Level 8, with the Quality Catch perk. Fish quality needs a massive revision. It shouldn’t take this much work to complete a bundle.

I have found my several Rove Beetles at the vineyard, almost exclusively.

I got it by the Observatory/Vineyard I did in fact clear off all the bugs before they were supposed to spawn like @rustic grail suggested.

Maybe this is a dumb question but how to we equip the scents? do we just need to keep them in our inventory or place it in the equip slots like bait? i have tried but nothing happens. I wish there was a tutorial for these things in game.

You need to consume them! Like any other food item. Hope it helps!

I have seen and caught bunch of Rove beetles next to the farm (red circle).

I have not had any luck with silver Sardine though and i have been fishing every evening/night for weeks. 🤷‍♀️ I got bronze Sardine at the dock next to the diving spot.

titan arum, do a sweep of the forest area in fall every morning/night? i did that on the regular

thanks so much i had no idea they were edibles haha. I don't usually eat scented products so i thought you had to wear them .
