New Save Needed For Spring Update?

I thought we were meant to be able to use an old save file (I'm not married to the idea, but being on year 6 with so many things completed, I wanted to double check)? Ranch is not showing new animals, etc when I updated and loaded up my old save.

some of my things (like my previous higher skill levels) didnt trigger until i went ot bed, then got my unlocks overnight (i was maxed at 10 for a bunch & overnight got to the new cap of 8 bc it stores your xp levels)

I hadnt checked the ranch on my first day, but on my main file which is year 5 ive since purchased the animals, so it may be the game just needs 1 sleep to finalize some of the new stuff?

Alas, no luck for the sleep being the key to the updates. No ranch animal availability, no wind mine. Going to try with a new game file.

(And also going to do the standard restart in case it's Steam's fault 😂)

The wind mine doesn't just appear for you - there is a cut scene with the chieftain and then you have to go to the bottom of the first mine (and then the second one later) to trigger more cut scenes.

Update: restarting steam and then taking a sleep did the job! Saw all the skill updates! 🎊🎊🎊

I know this is old but is ther ANY reason one would need to start a new save since the spring update? if everything unlocked after that first sleep

like what exactly IS everything and how do i know if I'm missing something. i really dont want to start a new save!

If any data gets corrupted when the update syncs to your save you’ll need a new file (& data corruption can’t anticipate - won’t know until it happens)

Otherwise, can just continue your old files!

There’s the chance that certain cutscenes or unlocks could end up tied to a trigger early on in game, (meaning no way to get it on older files) but haven’t noticed anything yet

so i shouldn't miss anything that happens after whenever i started post update, since i believe everything looks good, but i may have missed something in year 1 for example?

i just feel like im stuck i have no missions that i can progress so im like have i hit the limit for where the game is developed so far?theres no way is there

That sounds correct! Main story quests / quests in general are limited at this time
