I feel like I must be doing something wrong because while I am in Spring of Year 1 for my game, I cannot afford anything
I'm about to enter Summer of Year 1, so I'd love for tips on crops for this season. I'm not sure whether or not to buy the most expensive/profitable seeds first and wait for it to grow, or get the cheaper seeds and just slowly save. Am I even supposed to upgrade as much stuff in Year 1? I sometimes see tips for beginners and they already have a kitchen and I'm like I BARELY have 2k currency, I just did a Seed Quality Upgrade with my Bronze Kelps and it blew my money
#Tips on earning money efficiently on Year 1?

What I found is having a cow that produces large milk and having a yogurt machine puts the game on easy mode 😂.
I'll definitely not to save up for a ranch haha
if you have a mason jar or the keg turn your foragables into juice or jam/pickled items. they sell for more. juices typically sell for more than the jams and pickled items. make sure you donate your first item you get (i.e. fish, bugs, gems, etc) and check if items need to me offered to the temple alters. after those are done just sell, sell, sell. once you save up enough for ranching you'll be in the clear for money.
atleast, thats what I do and it made me a considerable amount of money. the beginning is always a little hard but it evens out if you forage.
side note: dont forget to shake your coconut trees around the island. you'll get free coconuts and they sell for a pretty good price. especially the fall and winter ones.

Ooh this is very helpful thank you! I do have the mason jar thankfully! I'll be doing that then till I get the ranch!
Also wow I didn't realize the coconuts sold well, I have been eating them this entire time
there is no yogurt machine now that the update is here
here's what i do. plant the stuff and hoe the ground. day 1 i do nothing but hoe and plant. get as many potato seeds as i can after that
do the potatoes, sell everything else, bugs, fish, forage.
after that the rest of the season is as many cauliflower as i can get my hands on.
i usually end up between 40-50k by the end of spring
LOL DANG 50K
You will get cheese press in lieu of yogurt machine - better sell price after processing still applies 😉
Oo okay gotcha
I just got to Summer, but I'm definitely gonna apply what you said here to this. I definitely was not catching enough bugs and fish (tbh I have the basic fishing pole rn so all I've been catching is Flyers, Trash, and Zebrafish lol but oh well)
melon juice
if you have the town rank, pineapples are great for just selling or making juice as well.
summer is where i am MOST of my money and it's all in melon juice/pineapple juice
when i did my beta file (now i was probably min/maxing some stuff) but i was trying HARD to make as much as i could. i was at 600k and wasn't even done with year 1 winter. it can be done
Oh perfect! I am so glad I saved my Silver Bar
Now I can use it for the Keg
Thanks so much guys, this is all really helpful!
someone called it a factory but i have a 30 keg set up. it's a lot of work to get there though
Sounds like it ahaha
Lol I think if I just have one keg atm, it'll at least help me get to getting a ranch and I can finally buy some new clothes in the game
whoo!! processing stuff makes more money
if you go to the left of your farm and fish in that water, you can get sea cucumbers and if the sell price didn't change they are 175 a piece.- so like 6 in one day (which doesn't take long if you have the game speed turned down) is 1k gold
you got this
you're welcome (that's also ocean forest) if you're searching for a specific fish
I have kept all my crops and only sold some. Is there a particular flower I should keep to make into honey and not bother with rest and sell? In your opinion.
forage or planted? i use either the fairy rose (i work hard to get better rank) or the snowdrop
orchid honey was ok money in beta.
prices have changed so this could be a little different now
you can only find it in the fall and it's foraged (you'll need at least 1 for the altar)
but titan arum turned into honey was big money (like almost 3k)
Both. I sell all purple flowers especially violets but it takes a long time to keep all the others to turn into honey 🍯
the planted ones will make you more money BUT processing anything into something else (so fruit into juice)
will make it worth more
More Kegs it is lol thank you you for your advice. I’m patiently waiting for my game to patch and play 😂
Ooooo Glad I found this thread lol about to start a file for the update, so if I'm reading right...
Potatoes are best for very early game money, as well as getting a keg or mason jar? And the fish the sea cucumbers right?
oh and coconuts lol
keg is better
yes to cucumber but you need d- rank so get as much as you can early for the museum/altars/knock out all 10 ocean sonars. your altars aren't locked (finish 1, unlock next altar) so ALWAYS check morning market. (there's a lot there)
you need a bronze potato too if you can reach second turtle before spring ends.
cauliflower has the BEST income but the seeds are already expensive. potatoes do just as well if you're not making enough
Alright, I'll make my gameplan!
Where’s morning market and what time?
morning market is on the dock by the coffee shop from 7:30 too 11:50 on tuesday, thursday, friday

you can see which altars you can complete. there's more pages as well that contain enchantment info and such
Ooh thank you for all your help. Not touching at all lol
i take zero credit for most of it. bee had most of it and was super fast getting this done during beta lol
yeah i took advantage of the pretty formatting glacial phoenix did & ran with it xD
you guys were so fast. i went to help and you're like "we're done" lol
coconuts are good free money once grown; yogurt/mayo/juices/jams/bug jerky are all great ways to make money-ty Sarah Sunstone for video tips/tricks
yeah that's changed
bug jerky is worth like 20-30 now
yogurt also decreased
i spent over 100 hours in beta
has not decreased so far but Im not in the beta just the reg game
well it all dropped and prices were nerfed
if players don't have the beta with all the new items then they can save up for incoming patch -just a thought
the update dropped. it's too late for that
that's why i gave the information i did- based on how the update will play
mine says 55 days for update
thats great however my screen says 55 days.. not sure why its different
everyone's says that because we got the spring update today. it WAS TBD
You guys are awesome @ripe crane Thank you. That file will be helpful
There’s the summer update, probably the current expected date for that …
now this is 30 kegs and only 10 mason jars so little bit a math is needed here lol
but it's 2 jam per 24 hours vs 1 juice
I go with Mason jar (jams & pickles) bc 2 items from mason jar has always better to me vs 1 keg item
(Bc mason jar = 12 hours/1 item & keg = 24 hours/1 item)
So mason jar gets more crops processed in the same time frame at no major loss (& in your above pic, jam is more profitable)
So less backlog of crops in a chest waiting to process
Side note that the grape juice (all fruit juices) can be placed into an aging barrel if you get one, which is where their profit lives - but that’s an endgame type profit plan
yeah so in this case you could times the 2600 x 3 because you'd get it 3 times which equals a bit more than the juice for grapes
i didn't put 2 and 2 together during beta like a dope lol
I put 2 & 2 together right away in beta 😂😂 once I finally remembered to read the profit page that is.. (I skip it ALLLL the time ..)
by the time spring rolls around i'll be 4 15x15 deep plus greenhouse lol
see i never do either LOL
fair rose honey is worth a lot more than snowdrop honey too
i'm going to start summer now so what should i do to make the most of it and get some good money?
Melons, blackberry, pineapple and lilies are what I focus on in summer
I'd also plant some hot peppers. They keep growing into fall - not as worth it for money but you want to save base quality hot peppers for Explosive II
