okayy i hope it works for you, i use gold axe (idk the tools upgraded will impact on how fast you will be able chop the tree) and still takes time.
it will be easier to chop it down if you wait for the tree to grow until out of the season (because the tree will die)

16 hits with golden axe for me to remove fruit plants/fruit trees.
